From pit to stockpile

Good aggregate is not just rock in a pile. Here is what happens between the ground and the truck.

  1. Strip and open the pit

    We pull back the overburden to reach clean material, working the site in sections so reclaimed ground stays stable.

  2. Screen the raw material

    Screening separates usable rock from fines up front, which keeps the crusher fed with the right feed and cuts wasted runs.

  3. Crush to size

    Rock is crushed down to spec sizes, from 3/4 inch and 3/8 inch product to manufactured sand, then stockpiled by size.

  4. Wash the product

    The wash plant rinses dust and clay off the aggregate so it bonds properly in concrete instead of weakening the mix.

  5. Separate and stockpile

    Finished material is separated into clean, labeled piles ready for loading, with samples checked as production runs.

Water is the scarce part

Washing rock takes water, and this is the desert. Our wash plant runs on settling ponds that let the fines drop out so the water can be pumped back through the system and used again. We also work the pit in a way that keeps disturbed ground contained and dust down.
